MEETUP on Monday 5/13, 7 – 9pm at Front Range Automotive (1448 W Cedar Ave, Denver, CO) Bring in some canned food to donate and I’ll give you some swag in return!

“Overlanding” is a popular term these days, with tons of people wanting to take this activity and make it their own. To get into Overlanding is basically just car camping though, and to get into car camping doesn’t cost much money (assuming you already have a car). Is this real “overlanding” – eh maybe not technically, according to the true overlanders, but it’ll give you a nice intro into that world. In the end, it’s all about getting out of the city and into nature, and enjoying the ride. Don’t forget to pick up your trash!

My buddies and I used to ride bikes with one tent, 3 sleeping bags, some food and lighter and go find a place to camp for night where allowed (usually an old farmer place with pond) when we were teenagers. This reminded me of some good times when I was a kid (albeit a bit rough at times).

Good simple video and gear. Just shows not much is needed to get out and enjoy the outdoors whether it is in your backyard(and that is an awesome backyard by the way) or any other place you can find. Need to get out more this year.

I have that tent in my collection. IMHO it’s a rare case of getting more than what you paid for.

I appreciate the poor man video mainly because I push helping folks who aint rich with my firearms company can leave people behind… that being said good video and hope your dog recovered well.

  14. Last Line Of Defense on December 11, 2021 at 1:04 pm

I didn’t talk about vehicle specific stuff, or recovery gear in this video. But obviously you’ll need a vehicle suited to the type of terrain or trails you want to hit. Regardless of if you’re camping or not – you’ll also want to tools and recovery gear necessary to keep you going on that trail, and to make it back home. I can make a video more on that side of stuff if you’d like later.

For 150$ i can be in the woods for a month…what "challange" is that??? Just buy a lighter and spend the rest of it on food… if you have a car with yourself you do not need anything else.

I love that a "real 4wd" guy can respect a Subaru!
They can go ALOT of places that will surprise the absolute crap out of "real 4wd" guys. Especially an Sg Forester!

  21. Glider on December 11, 2021 at 1:18 pm

I have bought camping gear from Walmart that has outlasted the expensive name brand gear

  25. Nathan Maynard on December 11, 2021 at 1:24 pm

Fun story pertaining to the tent: my buddy and I went to red river gorge to do some overlanding/camping for 4 days, and when we got to the primitive sight we realized the polls for the tent were not inside the bag (my brother had forgotten to put them back in and we slipped checking before we left) so we had to drive an hour and buy that exact tent. We set it up in a torrential downpour and once inside, to our amazement, held out all the rain and had no leaks. We were crazy impressed with its ability to repel water for the price.

  26. Ez E on December 11, 2021 at 1:24 pm

    I love my Sg Forester!

  27. Gavin Tharp on December 11, 2021 at 1:24 pm

What kind of car is that?

  28. John Liberty on December 11, 2021 at 1:25 pm

Watching one of your other videos and this one came up on my feed. We had that exact same tent and it kept us dry through a nasty thunderstorm. The poles didn’t make it, though.

  29. Hilario Perez on December 11, 2021 at 1:26 pm

Nice looking pew pew ya got there brother

  35. Lord Of Dutch on December 11, 2021 at 1:38 pm

I can definitely recommend "Ozark Trail" (Walmart’s outdoor private label brand). It may not last forever but I’ve had a backpack, some chairs and a tent (plus countless other small things) last me atleast 4 years no with no complaints. Hard to justify spending money to upgrade even now. I have their $8 hiking backpack which is more comfortable than a Hurley and a Northface bag I own. I use it as my climbing bag and it’s held up to a lot of abuse. I haven’t used it but they make full sized internal frame bags as well that I’ve heard good things about

    Great video by the way!

  36. Nate Bailey on December 11, 2021 at 1:38 pm

Pretty much screwed since I don’t have an AWD vehicle.

  39. cars & critters on December 11, 2021 at 1:39 pm

I love cheap camping don’t need fancy stuff to get out there and have fun. I was thinking about a roof top tent for my Subaru but haven’t decided cuz I don’t really wanna lift my 75 pound dog into the tent every night

  40. Muneir Abdulla on December 11, 2021 at 1:42 pm

Cover photo was a total click-bait.. have it fixed!
None of the gear in photo was part of things you showed

  41. paul t on December 11, 2021 at 1:43 pm

Small critique: you need a mic. The echo in the garage was crazy. Usually you’re outside, so I get it. Just use your headphones. Thanks for the video and info

  42. Heavy_B Diesel on December 11, 2021 at 1:43 pm

Freecycle website is good for getting free camping stuff from people in your local area , I got a couple of self inflating sleeping mats , a brand new tent (gelert rocky 2) ,gas burner and several cans of gas, also got a full set of bergaus waterproofs and hiking boots , also bought a new unused eurohike tamar 2 tent from a guy on gumtree who was leaving the country and never got round to using it , I use my old arctic army sleeping bag in winter and my old army jungle bag in summer. Where there’s a will there’s a way people , don’t let money stand in your way , also feel free to check out my channel 😉
