Hey guys! I’m Alexandra Gater and I show you how to do rental-friendly upgrades and DIY projects on a budget. New videos every Saturday! Today I’m making over a tiny rental kitchen and upgrading it with renter-friendly changes like peel-and-stick backsplash and painting the cabinets a beautiful green colour. Loved this episode
Liked the green paint on the cabinets
    Didn’t like the lamp
I like fluorescent lights in kitchens
The new light fitting did nothing for the kitchen

I’m sorry, but that kitchen is terribly impractical. The stove is in the worst possible place. The new color is nice, but it cannot solve the lack of ergonomics.

    Green. Is. The. New. Neutral.

I’ve binged videos over a few days. Your use of space is impressive. What I find a little puzzling is that every design is basically the same….black, white and brown with blue, green, lavender, pink, and gold accents. All fabrics are organic, textured neutrals. Wood is usually light in color. Whether dark and moody or post-modern, or hotel chic, the recipe starts at a different place but somehow ends up at the same destination.

He looked as excited as me when I was diagnosed with chronic asthma. She was very happy though🥰

Love this transformation wanting to paint my cabinets a darker green. I’m wanting more of a witches cottage vibe in my kitchen. And changing the countertops to hopefully butcher blocks. Ever wanna come to Arizona I’d love for you to help transformation a room. I can’t seem to figure out were to start then nothing get done.

Gosh! You are so lucky over there to be able to revamp a rental property. My sister has had to rent for last few years and told me that she cannot even hang a picture, let alone decorate

This looks amazing! PSA – if you let plants like pothos grow across your walls, over time they’ll sprout arial roots which can break through your plaster and really mess up your walls. They look incredible but you need to keep a close eye on them!

  9. Ariel Lynn on February 7, 2023 at 6:56 am

I love the kitchen, especially the green cabinets

I’m so glad that here in Germany you have to bring your own kitchen. Yes, it’s expensive. But you can move in with a kitchen that is how you need/want it.

  11. Sue Riley on February 7, 2023 at 6:57 am

I’ve used a small table lamp in my kitchen for years. Still do.

  12. Barbara Bell on February 7, 2023 at 6:58 am

Wow!!! I love the paint color!!!

  13. Brenda Zolli on February 7, 2023 at 7:00 am

While I love the cabinets, I did the same and painted dark oak ones white. I sanded and primed them and

  17. Jannie227 on February 7, 2023 at 7:05 am

I’ve been married for 43 years and I’ve always had a small table lamp in my kitchen usually on the kitchen table. I guess I’ve done this because my mother always had a lamp in the kitchen and when I go into peoples houses that don’t have lamps in the kitchen it always looks so cold to me.

  18. Chandra Sutton on February 7, 2023 at 7:06 am

    Looks great!!!

  19. Erin R on February 7, 2023 at 7:06 am

Totally in love and totally my style as well. What was on the other side of the kitchen that we didn’t get to see though ? Was anything done by the fridge ?

  20. scorpio0612 on February 7, 2023 at 7:07 am

a hanging light for the ceiling would have been better. It wouldn’t have been angled with the ceiling

  21. Emily Rochester on February 7, 2023 at 7:09 am

The cups hooks in the top of the cabinet doors has just changed my life!

  22. Ashley Woolf on February 7, 2023 at 7:09 am

Kitchen is TINY but extremely cute in the end.

  23. Atu 27 on February 7, 2023 at 7:13 am

    Wow,awesome reno.

  24. Khanh Pham on February 7, 2023 at 7:15 am

Am I one of the few that actually prefer the original look? I feel like the renovated kitchen looks too trendy but in a few years time it will look so tacky.

I wouldn’t say “budget” with that paint and the backsplash but I guess I’m just starting from $0 lol

  30. MM B on February 7, 2023 at 7:21 am

What’s the point of a rug in a kitchen?

  31. Jeannine Terese on February 7, 2023 at 7:21 am

    The cabinets look great!

  32. Elisabeth Mitchell on February 7, 2023 at 7:23 am

  33. Sue Riley on February 7, 2023 at 7:24 am

This brings me back to the ‘60’s and avocado green.😊

  34. Jay Dobbyn on February 7, 2023 at 7:25 am

  35. Brittney Donegal on February 7, 2023 at 7:26 am

  36. Trina Olson on February 7, 2023 at 7:28 am

  37. trpk on February 7, 2023 at 7:29 am

I’ve been tucking table lamps into every kitchen I’ve lived in for 30 years, even guest bathrooms. Game changers to warm up spaces ❤

  38. shannanapeels on February 7, 2023 at 7:32 am

    I loveeee thisss

  42. Meerkatnip on February 7, 2023 at 7:34 am

About the new jars – they’re not safe against food moths because the lid usually doesn’t sit tight enough, with the IKEA ones it sometimes even plops up on its own. I use screw jars exclusively now because almost all the other pretty jars do not close tightly enough, even though the rubber thingy in the lid suggests it.

  43. Lilac Cilla on February 7, 2023 at 7:34 am

I have been using table lamps in my kitchens forever . Because its so nice and comforting ! Also I really hate harsh overhead lights

  44. B M on February 7, 2023 at 7:34 am

Question on cabinets. I’m assuming you get the landlords permission to paint? That’s not exactly something you can return to it’s original form when moving.

  45. Mary Jane Gibson on February 7, 2023 at 7:35 am

    Well done!

  46. Juju Larue on February 7, 2023 at 7:35 am

What if the surface of wood is grainy? Would you use more agressive methodes of polishing before painting? or would you be filling those gaps before painting?

  47. Brenda Zolli on February 7, 2023 at 7:36 am

Barkeepers Friend does a great job on the bottoms of copper pans.
