Great video. I love a moody room so much but I also love a crisp, white room with beautiful moldings and historical.

Jenny Mustard just did a video about life lessons being Swedish. She was saying that ever since you are born in Sweden it’s engrained in you for balance. She said it’s called lagom. I think that’s why the stylist would drop the shoe or mess up the pillows …balance not too perfect because life can’t be—there is a balance between beauty and daily life happening. When i actually think about it-that’s a beautiful way to live, in my opinion. It’s so eye-opening to me, not being raised this way, in America. You should watch her video it’s lovely.

Can relate to the light issue coming from UK. Love a mix of new and old and as for plants, after seeing your perennial geraniums last year, I took loads of cuttings and now have lots of greenery indoors.

  7. S Gardner on April 1, 2021 at 1:23 am

One of the best videos. I find myself drawn to Scandinavian design, mixing new & old, the imperfections, and natural textures and light. Thanks for detailing this style and the story it tells in your home.

  8. Frida Nyqvist on April 1, 2021 at 1:25 am

I just love to hear you talk about scandinavian design (and design in general)! You really have such an interesting and inspiring view on the mix of different interior styles since you lived in different countries. Perhaps since I have lived all my life in Scandinavia I don´t really understand the uniqe way we design our homes, but after watching several of your videos on this topic I´m starting to really appreciate it! Also thank you for all the beautiful photos in the video from Scandinavia, Denmark, Sweden and also Gothenburg where I live! I have followed Alvhem Mäkleri several years now, where some of the photos where from, and they really show the most beautiful views and appartments from my hometown! Hugs from Sweden

I live for all your videos! Thanks for all the inspiration and uplifting messages. Your videos are totally my style in life and in design.

Love your style. I love windows but I’m very private and hate when people try to look in your home while walking by, lol, blinds closed 95% of the time.

  11. themkgmail on April 1, 2021 at 1:27 am

Is there a good way to blend coastal, mid-century and scandi in a color-forward and lived-in kind of way?

  12. Elizabeth Healey on April 1, 2021 at 1:29 am

I lacky mix old and mew

  13. Karin Solli on April 1, 2021 at 1:30 am

I heard the quote that in the winter the fireplace replaces the sun. It resonates so much with me. I feel a bit of heaven is touching me when the sun comes through the window.

  14. Sehab M. on April 1, 2021 at 1:30 am

I like the idea of minimizing but my hubby is maximalist. He kept buying and bringing more things in home. I am unable to organize. My senses feel too overwhelmed with everything around.

  15. Ibislife on April 1, 2021 at 1:33 am

When you enter a Scandinavian home, you are met by a chaos of shoes in the hallway.. We always take off our shoes before entering the home! 😂Hygge is making your home warm and cozy, especially in the wintertime! In the summer – we want to be outside, enjoying the "friluftsliv". 💕 We grow up with hygge, it can be memories of your mother lighting the candles at night, makin hot cocoa when the snowstorm is howling outside. We feel safe and embraced inside. We do white to let the early spring light dance on the floor and the ceiling, as we go months of the year without much daylight.

  19. Nancy Eurell on April 1, 2021 at 1:40 am

As an American living in Sweden I have grown to really LOVE Scandinavian design and style! Yes, I have lots of white and light grey walls! Just love your channel and all of your design ideas! Thank you for another great video!

  20. Marcia mellow on April 1, 2021 at 1:42 am

I get it all… except the messy … can not live in any mess, really do not even like the word🤔… throwing a throw on my couch is as messy as I get.. I love light, put my lamps on as soon as I wake… love nature in my home…all my walls are soft white…it is all about YOUR story…fun video❤

  21. Amanda L Wayman on April 1, 2021 at 1:42 am

I should have been born in Scandinavia because I feel so at peace with that style. With regard to infusing life into your home, I feel like we miss that so often in the US. Seems we struggle with life filled but not messy. I think seeing prefect homes and rooms on social media sometimes contributes to our inability to find a happy medium.

Moody and washed out – sounds like me!

  28. OurWhiteOakCottage on April 1, 2021 at 1:47 am

I LOVE it when you share a video Valentina💕. This is definitely the style I have been gravitating to this past year. I enjoyed farmhouse style and still appreciate it but the more minimal home surroundings are just so relaxing and soothing to me. I so enjoy everything you share…thank you for all of the inspiration friend😊. Oh and I would LOVE to see many more videos about scandinavian style, some dupes for this style and home tours too!

  29. CC3 Mathews on April 1, 2021 at 1:48 am

I can appreciate the hygge and wabi-sabi concepts paired with diffused cloudy, romantic days on tropical coast vibes. I also pairing vintage, natural and DIY handmade decor.

  30. JOCIE MCCARTY on April 1, 2021 at 1:48 am

I love cloudy days and muted colors too. We are building a new house and I’m definitely going Scandinavian ❤️

  31. Carole Fox on April 1, 2021 at 1:48 am

I hope you don’t get tired of hearing, "I love this video!" Because once again… I love the video! The pictures you chose are gorgeous and your Secrets are great. This thought came to me while watching you today… The closer we are to nature and the more we reflect it, the more beautiful we are. And, the reverse is also true. A ‘perfect’ environment is artificial, not congruent with the human spirit, and doesn’t reflect us well. A couple things I try to keep in mind, when choosing decor (and clothing) are: 1) How do I FEEL in it? 2) How do I LOOK in it? And, adding a TWIST is key for me in all aspects of life. Thank you, Valentina!

  32. s l on April 1, 2021 at 1:51 am

My home is extremely Scandinavian inspired but I actually wasn’t aware of all of these philosophies – and yet I incorporate basically all of them. I suppose it makes sense why I’ve always been so attracted to Scandinavian design.

  33. NML on April 1, 2021 at 1:53 am

Those circular fireplaces in Denmark are amazing

  34. Fay b on April 1, 2021 at 1:56 am

Thanks I love the clean light and airy look

  35. KBTZ on April 1, 2021 at 1:56 am

Its honestly super cool to hear your take on Scandinavian design tied with having actually lived there, and picking up on things and tying the visible design with the culture. Like even breaking down the actual meaning of Hygge And I really like that quote, "A beautiful home is centered around the life you’re living inside of it." And yes! The historical mixed with the modern. Design juxtaposition is like my favorite thing ever.

I love my home as well which is infused with color but lots of natural light. Wish I was a minimalist, kinda lol.

  40. Sara P on April 1, 2021 at 2:02 am

I’ve been hoping you’d touch on Scandi design/lifestyle again. Keep it coming!!

  41. Lighten Up on April 1, 2021 at 2:04 am

You are not at all minimal by any definition. Your house has stuff on every surface. Scandinavians do not like clutter and don’t make messes. I don’t understand any of these claims. I lived in Helsinki and my sister has lived there for 40 years and her husband and his family are native. Not anyone I have ever met in Finland or any home I have been to is messy or likes any type of clutter, ever. Monochromatic design and minimalism are totally different.

  42. Nola Sidders on April 1, 2021 at 2:05 am

Can you tell us what job took you to Scandinavia? Love your pleasant disposition. Your content is always so interesting.

  43. Cynthia G. on April 1, 2021 at 2:05 am

I love the mix of old and new.

  44. Sarah Usmani on April 1, 2021 at 2:06 am

  45. Susie Edwards on April 1, 2021 at 2:08 am

Great video! Another thing about Scandinavian homes is that they are so clean! It might be a bit lived in but no dirt anywhere.

  46. Robin Duke on April 1, 2021 at 2:09 am

I love a mix of modern and traditional, with a bit of vintage thrown in. By the way, all the best, most interesting people are a bit crazy! 🤣 💛

  47. Nina Johnson on April 1, 2021 at 2:09 am

For me a room without some element of history is a space without a soul.
