She Purchased A DIY CAMPER VAN As A SUSTAINABLE RETIREMENT DWELLING
Jill has the same mindset as me when it comes to DIY builds Vrs something from the RV industry, these types of builds are just built better! While she did not do the build herself, she did add tons of custom DIY gear that helps her life on the road. I have linked the full extended version below for those who want to dive deeper into this build.

Beautiful van conversion!! Absolutely love the WINDOWS, decor colors & functionality. Thanks for sharing your VanLife Journey.๐๐
Bagus desaintnya mantaaap๐๐
That’s so lovely. My favorite van conversions are the ones that have the open table/bed setup.
Beautiful.
Love your van !! You may not have built it but you did make it your home with your own touches great job !
great space!! thanks for sharing and I love the ceiling fixture and lights.
Very complete built! Not bad what she paid, new ones cost $100k or more. The bathroom/shower looks so nice!
Nice setiup
I love the ceiling.

Omg I ran into this woman and her husband on highway 1 this summer ! Their van is gorgeous and they are two super welcoming beautiful souls

I love this setup
I’ve seen a lot of videos and this is one of my favourite. It’s great and very complete. I love it. Thank you for sharing
Love the van and Im seeing more married women traveling by themselves. How awesome! My husband would not let me do this.
Beautiful Van !!! Great design !!
Encrivel como desperdissam espaรงo numa vรกm enchem de armรกrios e alguns nem banheiro tem
I’ve never seen a retractable door like that! Could you please give the brand name? I don’t think I’m spelling it correctly in my searches.
Appreciate seeing how you can still have two people working in such a small space. So many of the YouTubes Iโve seen are younger adults so itโs nice to see someone more my age. Iโm just dreaming at this point.
I thought this van looked familiar. Itโs nice to see how she made it hers.
Awesome video wow thatโs cool van thanks ๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐จ๐ฆ๐
@3:29 — is that a *DONKEY* strolling by outside??? ๐
Buying a self build at that price makes for a smart cookie. Personally, I don’t trust MB’s but that build is so nice it might make up for the expense she’s likely to incur in maintenance and repairs. I would be interested in the weight of the rig as it sits now. I’ve noticed in earlier builds a lot of DIYers weren’t particularly cognizant of the importance of overall weight added or it’s distribution. There’s an excellent custom builder (now working on his second project, covered in his YT channel Humble Road) that addresses these concerns in detail. I don’t know what he charges for a build but suspect it wouldn’t pencil out for most of us, but his build quality is well beyond that of the most expensive factory camper vans, so if you’re looking at the high end market, he’s currently state of the art, imo. When will Pleasure Way figure this all out? Probably not for a while, lol.
*When square footage is tight, it helps if statement pieces are both charming **BestTiny.House** and useful. An old wood-burning stove brings a vintage vibe to new construction and also heats the entire place.*
Beautiful van, and a quality build, it shows!
Some of these latest gadgets however make you think if its really a functional benefit to buy them.
The Nautilus Shower Door for example:
1. Costs $300 for a framed piece of plastic. Because its for an RV not a house!
2. Can either be fully retracted, or fully closed, no in between.
3. You either live with a moist damp bathroom and a closed door, or allow the bathroom to dry out but have to look at the intimate contents inside, no in-between.
4. Shoulder room is limited by the stiff door, no leeway.
5. Requires professional mounting and accurate sizing specs.
6. Shorter lifespan, no color choices, some see through at night, no ventilation during use.
Benefits of an Extend-A-Shower shower curtain rod instead of this Nautilus door:
1. Costs $30 for rod and $10 for shower curtain.
2. Curtain can be pulled aside, or drawn over, or drawn halfway.
3. Either way you pull that curtain, the bathroom is always going to be aired out and dry.
4. Extended shoulder room with much less limitations, extending out of bathroom but still keeping water inside the shower pan.
5. Can be mounted easily by anyone in 10 mins.
6. Longer life span, unlimited color and material choices, and blocks view completely. and airs out during use.
A couple of tips for the van:
1. I found that using silicone oven pads is very useful for preventing things from sliding on counter top when driving. I slip them under dish rack or toaster, and it does the job.
2. Instead of the heavy table as bed base, check out the sliding slat solution on many van builds. These slatted pullouts tuck in under bench top. You pull them out to hook onto other bench side. Now you have a clear passage way with a long Lagun table top which tucks in under the other bench.
3. You may want to move your fruit basket to a shadier spot as the direct sun will over ripen fruits. You can also make fruit hammocks on the ceiling or under counters which are shorter and have less pendulum motion when driving.
Thanks for a great tour! Enjoyed seeing this van build and lovely occupant!
WAY too long an intro
was that $10,800? you paid. that sounds a great deal
** you can opt to change the heavy table to a BAMBOO Counter top from Ikea – Its light durable.
Wow! That is expensive. $57,000 seems like a lot to me.
Fantastic van conversion !!! ๐๐๐๐๐ป๐๐ปโ๐ป
Smart lady, very cool van!
you know you are getting a quality build from Sara and Alex. I still follow them and they continue to build vans. You can watch the process and it’s very well done. I love that the van is familiar but has your personal stamp on it. And don’t you love all those windows!
Jill, as a fellow Californian, I really enjoyed your video. I’m in Monterey County, near the ocean and have been to SLO many times, mainly to drive thru. I like your van, especially with all the windows. As you travel this year, I hope you are able to stay safe from Covid and smoke.
Where did you purchase overhead compartments basket that holds your electronics?
Ok, with the shower i think i could actually live in a van like yours!
How much?
Nice van, but those corners on the cabinets… ouchโผ๏ธ
What a beautiful van! Having so many windows is so beautiful…have you had any security issues? Do you have alarms?
This is goals! ๐ป
Love the ceiling and design!
donkey walks by….no one notices…LOVE It!!!.(11:58)
Cool van !
I’m in San Diego. I recently purchased a 99 Ford E 150 Econoline. I didn’t build it out just using what I can manually throw on it. For my next van I’d love to have a van like yours. ๐

I like the ceiling light fixture you made — I’ll bet the Tivoli lights are lovely at night. Thanks for showing the campervan.
Get baby bumpers for the cabinet corners. The kind people put on sharp edges to kid proof.
Thought this looked like a Sara & Alex build! They are geniuses’!
I love the bathroom.Clever use of space
