Staying Cool in a Van in Summer | 100 degree temps with no AC | Vanlife VLOGS

Well the summer is here and we are dying in this heat. We wanted to share with the community how we stay cool and comfortable in the van.
We would love to hear some ideas on how everyone else out there stays cool in their van in the summer. Obviously #1 is going outdoors but that’s not always an option.

If you have a sunroof you can make your own bug screen and use a clip on USB fan attached to visor blowing up to make an exhaust fan with another window cracked to create cross ventilation. If you have a roof rack, drape a silver tarp over them, pulling it taut to create a radiant heat barrier.

If it were me, I would figure out like an isolated 24 volt 1200 lb battery bank, that could be dedicated to a small portable ac unit. [maybe [might draw about 30 amps from a 24 vdc bank, while compressor is on] (Vent it through the top side or roof) Run the flexible solar panels everywhere you
can, you would need at least 1000 watts,
1200 lbs lead acid bank, might need about 21 cubic feet to store, or get a lithium ion bank, if price isn’t a big hurdle. I want to try this myself so bad.

If it’s 100 degrees outside, what’s the temperature you’re experiencing inside the van with the fan on?

Just found your channel, thanks for the tips, one I already have done but not able to test yet, I have Maxxair fan installed, but I definitely need to make or get some really good window blockers for my cab area. Last June I took my bus (partially converted, still in progress) on a nine day vacation and with my luck it was over 90 degrees the entire time, I had a fan and an AC luckly. I was able to determine there was massive heat transfer from the cab area. The only thing different in my setup is the Maxxair fan is in the roof of the cab, there is a vent in the steps at the entrance, I am hoping it will cool down the cab and therefore not transfer so much heat to the living area, great tip on the 12v van (sorry for long comment).

How about an emergency space blanket on the roof to reflect the heat back out?

Vent not a good idea if you get an exhaust leaknit will be bad hit a puddle water aprays up. Why not get a window that opens. Open the door and use magnets and screen mesh. You can use a bowel with ice water and blow the air feom that in the morning and evening open the windows suring when its hot close it down if you insulate it keeps it cool longer.

Great tips! Thank you! Have you thought of using bedding made of cooling materials? What are your thoughts on swamp coolers?

I bought two of those small black clip on fans. Not the most quiet fan but still very good for the money imo. What is really nice is that you can place it about anywhere and it barely uses any power at all.

Usually white people with dreadlocks are socialist liberals who scream about cultural appropriation, yet they steal black African and Jamaican culture to wear dreadlocks.
