Look at the Wrappon PF-1. Ugly, but does what you want

  2. Michael Clark on July 1, 2023 at 2:15 pm

Apparently there is also now a propane incinerating toilet. Damn! No very wasteful very expensive high current 220V power draw just to roast your poop. Flame Throw Your Poop To Ashes! 🔥🔥

The selection of the toilet is probably the most difficult and critical decisions for ones van build. Choose wrong for your particular situation/priorities and your F’d. Used all these different RV toilets and they all have massive drawbacks compared to a regular house toilet. Black tank system is nice to use but dumping and maintenance is a major pain. Same with Cassette toilets only worse. Composting toilets aren’t a bad way to go except the daily dumping of the urine container which is flat disgusting. Incinerator toilets are impractical and hella expensive to get installed. Despite the liquids issue and expense of the Mylar cassettes the Laveo Dry-Flush toilet was the winner for our needs. We don’t full time in our van so the cassette expense is a moot point. I think your onto something with the hybrid urine diverter idea. Maybe put one of those tray/bowls used for training your cat to crap in your house toilet with a hose attached running to a bottle. Make it and I’ll buy one lol

if you end up doing van life in san francisco, you can just shit on the sidewalk like the locals do eliminating the need for a toilet altogether,…….

  5. Morgan Thomas on July 1, 2023 at 2:17 pm

I’ve been using one of these toilets in a tiny house were staying in and thought it was absolutely SHIT! No different to shitting in a carrier bag. The flaps close up when your wiping your ass so when you go to drop the shitty paper into the toilet it lands on the flaps and you have to wipe all the skid marks off. Don’t bother with this toilet!

10:40 you need to think outside of the box 😉 I don’t think many people would know, unless they are campers themselves. You could put it in travel bag on wheels and slap an airline boarding sticker, so it would look like you just arrived to an airport. Maybe wear clothes typical to tourists, like camera if you are from Japan 😉 Then just order something, eat it and casually complete the mission objective 😉 What is gross, in my opinion, is that it contains week or two worth of stuff, so flushing might take some time and the sound will be bizarre!

  7. Daniel Roble on July 1, 2023 at 2:18 pm

Why not make a dehydrated black tank or toilet

  8. MrMentalpuppy on July 1, 2023 at 2:18 pm

    Dry flush is good

You goona shit everywhere when you are diarrhea…..

  10. Clairisa Long on July 1, 2023 at 2:22 pm

I don’t see a big difference between taking out this waste bag and picking up while walking a dog or changing a babies diaper.

  11. Richard Brunt on July 1, 2023 at 2:23 pm

Regarding emptying the bucket. I don’t think you were doing it correctly, that’s why it’s gross. Open the toilet, and tie a knot in the bag. Put the lid on the bucket. Then take the entire bucket out to the dumping location. Remove the lid, invert the bucket, dumping the tied up bag. Minimal exposure to solid waste. The more squeamish among us can take it a step farther. Before emptying, pour a few scoops of cat litter, wood pellets, or something else down the chute. Then when you open the toilet, it’s pretty much hidden. You can tie a knot in the bucket in the bag at that point, and continue as above.

  12. MAD-OMAD-NOMAD on July 1, 2023 at 2:23 pm

We use a bucket and line it with about 10 to twenty bags, one inside another. Do your business, tie off the first inner bag and push it down (if it’s just wee, add gel powder or kitty litter) and do your next business on top, tie off inner bag number two, push down and repeat until your bucket is fairly full. The tie it all off with the last bag and either bury out bush or put in a rubbish bin/dumpster. It’s basically a homemade, cheaper and more environmentally friendly dry flush

  13. Diane Hodson on July 1, 2023 at 2:24 pm

Try pelletized horse bedding cheap, lighter & really helps with the smell. I’ve used it for kitty litter & it works great!

  14. ihmesekoilua on July 1, 2023 at 2:25 pm

First couple of times using the Tiny, messing around with it while installing and such, I did manage to get the opening mechanism kinda stuck, but once you’ve effed with it a few times you get the hang of it. No smells. I found I’m emptying the #2 section more often than expected, but maybe I just… poop a lot. It’s a bit gross, but surprisingly unstinky, and if you’ve made an effort to place the bag properly, handles not all scrunched up etc, then tying the thing up, lifting it up and carrying it out is no big deal at all.

  15. woolengrappler on July 1, 2023 at 2:26 pm

Seems like a dry flush toilet with a diverting pee bottle would be the best option.

  16. The Last 25 on July 1, 2023 at 2:29 pm

As far as smell, remember — Dilution is the solution to pollution. Big airspace, 1.5 inch vent. Smell, what smell?

  17. Super terrific on July 1, 2023 at 2:30 pm

Good video except you didn’t talk about prices and also why not just use cat litter and pine pellets. Pine pellets will break down into saw dust when they get wet with urine and they help give it a pine smell. The combo works well and then if you put it into a diaper genie you further won’t get any smell. That basically what the dry flush is, hut with this method you won’t have to worry about the urine. The dry flush would work with it but it’s way over priced. I am looking for a fancy option of the bucket, one with a more comfortable seat that feels like an indoor toilet.

  18. Tom Benson on July 1, 2023 at 2:31 pm

time for someone to build a separating, dry flush toilet!

  19. Alan Hopkins on July 1, 2023 at 2:36 pm

Great vid. Reason you can’t smell anything on your walk around is because we are nose blind to our own smells. Ask a friend..!!

What about the OGO Composting Toilet?

  21. Harry Himpson on July 1, 2023 at 2:39 pm

love the build were did you get the spot lights front and rear ram bars / bumpers and the rack looks crazy man im from the uk and thinking of building a van whilst on the road

  22. VanaConn on July 1, 2023 at 2:39 pm

did you say $25k toilet ? Holy Sh#$ ! My co driver and I drive 4-6k miles a week and use laundry detergent bottle for urine . Easy to dump in grass on an off ramp . Can’t stop in a rest area and waste time for #1 especially when your in the sleeper and don’t want to get dressed .That dry flush is appealing for van life .May have to consider that .

  23. Damian Dusiński on July 1, 2023 at 2:39 pm

Incinerating toilets costs around 4k $. Why you put 20k $ there ?

  24. Steve Lam on July 1, 2023 at 2:41 pm

In a dry flush toilet, before doing your business you can add dampening paper towels or diapers to absorb urine.

  25. noyopacific on July 1, 2023 at 2:42 pm

We’ve used an "Incinolet" brand incinerating toilet in our fishing shack for the past four years, about 15 weeks per year. It’s worked well for us BUT it uses an average of 3,500 watt hours of electricity per "flush." This is more economical than a septic system in our situation however we get electricity from a utility company. The Incinolet produces approximately a tea cup full of ash per week for the two of us and is relatively easy to clean and maintain. I was actually looking at the Separett and other options to use as the toilet at a canvas wall tent we are planning to set up on a parcel that doesn’t have electricity.

  27. Functional Van Conversion on July 1, 2023 at 2:42 pm

Your van is awesome! Thanks for updating. I am not surprised as the media is great at suffocating the feces.

  28. Proud Transphobe on July 1, 2023 at 2:43 pm

I guess you could say that your other video was "the shit" when it comes to toilet videos……

  29. wanda mcgann on July 1, 2023 at 2:43 pm

You need to get saw dust put saw dust on the poop after using and it will not smell. 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀

Watching this while eating lunch ❤

  31. Curry on July 1, 2023 at 2:44 pm

I was thinking the same on the urine diverting dry flush toilet!!!

  32. Flora Verances on July 1, 2023 at 2:53 pm

I think your idea is perfect! I really hope the company make that, because when I saw that, all I think about is that urine smells. I also have an idea for the twisting cassette, I think if you put solidfy stuff on it when your done your business, I think it will help. I don’t know what do you guys think? But this also kind of costly.

  33. Jack Stiegler on July 1, 2023 at 2:55 pm

Best! The Separette Toilet is what I put in my van. I put a wet $1800 toilet in my customers van, which uses tons of water, and the sewage smell (!!!) and paying $5-$10 to dump black water every 3-5 days! $700 a year.

I’ve been using the separett almost 1 year. Not impressed. I think Im gonna splurge (Again!) on the wrappon or the Laveo.

  35. Steven Nijweide on July 1, 2023 at 2:59 pm

Clesana has made a mod to their toilet after they saw this video I assume. It is now exactly what you described.

Thank you for this thorough coverage of rv toilets. Well done!

  37. Aegean Sea on July 1, 2023 at 3:01 pm

Maybe you could patent it if you were to fall under like the baby diaper mechanism that’s in the trash cans for baby diapers

  38. Scott Martin on July 1, 2023 at 3:01 pm

How has the Shower on the toilet been? I have same toilet and the seam where the Hinge of the seat lets water into the main compartment. Was wondering if its leaking into it?

  39. Jarmo Rousku on July 1, 2023 at 3:01 pm

Price for Cinderella toilet for motorhomes operating /w LPG is 4k€.

  40. Michael Clark on July 1, 2023 at 3:02 pm

There is quite a number(at least 4) of good sub $1K & sub $500 urine seperating compositing toilets that are not listed at all on here. Do your research as there is few toilets listed here that are definitely not practical in a number of ways

  41. Denyse Pommet on July 1, 2023 at 3:04 pm

I appreciate your videos and wonder if you could review 2 composting toilets? It would be the OGO vs the Cuddy: I looked around (all the ones you talked about, and actually tried some) and so far, my choice has come down to those 2.
    I’ll keep my fingers crossed…

When traveling, the best toilet is in fast food restaurants and gas stations. 🙂🙂🙂

I have a van with a Macerator that makes the black tank discharge experience so different. This would suggest if this was included it would make your top tier rank. Way more convienent than a traditional dump. You can pump out the black water with less oudor and no chunks!

  46. George Henry Moore on July 1, 2023 at 3:08 pm

Have you tried sawdust instead of kitty litter?

  47. Gordz on July 1, 2023 at 3:08 pm

you had me worried for a second!!! My Serperatt tiny arrives in two days, lol

  48. Steve SS on July 1, 2023 at 3:09 pm

Thanks for the update video! I currently have a Thetford 565e porta-potti in my van and have rented several RVs in Europe with cassettes. I don’t agree with your rating of cassette toilets so far above porta-potties. The latter function exactly like cassettes, except their holding tanks aren’t removed outside the van/RV. But that’s really not an issue in a small van as long as you are careful. Smell, dumping, etc, is no different. That said, the Separett Tiny would be my choice if I ever switch. Disposal would be even easier.

Bro your awesome.. tell me have you ever been to burning man in the Nevada desert?

  50. ochjoo77 on July 1, 2023 at 3:11 pm

I have replaced the regular black tank toilet in our 5th wheel with a separet tiny and it was the best upgrade ever.. the whole family actually loves this toilet better than the toilets at home, as you see nothing, smell nothing.. well except the person having to empty the bag 🤣 but if done right with keeping the lid on until you’re actually at the bin to throw the bag, it’s pretty straightforward and painless.
