Tent Inside Tent Winter Camping
Tent Inside Tent Winter Camping
Well, the title is pretty self-explanatory haha. I set up a couple tents like Russian nesting dolls in some moderately cold weather. I used the insulated otter vortex ice fishing shelter for the outer layer, and for the inner layer I attempted to use candles to heat the tent system, and I do believe I will stick to my propane solutions for warmth from this point on.
I used a Coleman Catalytic Propane heater many times — it was said to be safe in a tent — I used it in a tent no problem — but did not leave it on overnight
What did we learn? Add disposable lighters, Kingsford lighter fluid and a blowtorch to your survival kit.
Actually the two tent within a tent idea is brilliant!!!!
shovel the snow out the tent, heat some rocks on the fire then bring them in the tent, and drain the juice before adding alfredo 😆
There is a terracotta pot trick with these to help make their heat more efficient.
I love it. Down to earth individual. Good stuff
The I’m Not Chuck Norris comment had me almost press the back button. Lol just kidding.
I’m glad I didn’t. This was really cool to see you construct this set-up! You do a great job of making us feel like we are there with you.
Can we get a link for both tents
The long dark 2 looks insane!
Dude! you must have a massive stomach to have eaten all that food… Wow!
If the "green" fanatics get their way we will all be living like this, but without the tealights.
I disagree, you are Chuck Norris, the Chuck Norris of camping.
I bet if you had
terra-cotta planters with the tea candles would have worked
ASMR through the roof with all the rustling 🤣🤣
I could be wrong but I thought you were supposed to leave the snow for insulation…no??? And also no fire inside!
Next time car inside a tent inside a car?
Lol. "This one doesn’t even have a wick."
The ground isn’t ‘double insulated’
Mountaineers manage to survive storms at altitude with equipment they carry on their back. What do they use?
I did my Military Service in Savoie (Chasseurs Alpines) and we slept in igloos made by digging a single trench and then digging snow caves into the sides but that required deep snow. We were given a white candle sticks stuck into the snow (as you saw tea candles is a bad idea). When it’s 20 below outside 1-2 deg is cosy.
When digging our snow caves we dug up so that cold air would descend down and out. This was only for training. We spent all winter outdoors and if we spent the night out it would be in a dome tent which was fine. The rest of the time we were in a Chalet like normal people. (C’est finis la Guerre – Roughly translated the War is over now)
Maybe you can contact the Norwegian/Scandinavian Military. In some of those Nordic countries they’re taught outdoor survival in the snow like it’s summer camp. I think they’re the best I’ve ever seen at winter survival.
why not back the car in.
Two tents for me.
I’m not Chuck Norris
In order for the tea candles to heat up the space, you need to do what you did with the plate, but do it multiple times, evenly spaced in a circle around the Inside of the tent. Also, you MUST close those flaps letting -22°c air inside the space. Kind of negates any heat from the candles.
Why not remove the snow that’s in the tents to keep you warmer?
You could always lay a tarp down to keep the ice off the bottom of the bigger tent
I’ve camped in winter, but did not have such an awesome tent setup. I’d put a ground cloth down first. Then put a big blanket down on the inside. Then sleep on an air mattress. With extra lining in my sleeping bag. We did not have an extra tent, so we put a quilt over the top.
Try the candles on a plate cut holes in side of an old pan an put pan upside down over candles on a on the plate it gavers up more heat an pan will get hot giving a bigger heat serfs
You have to try the cellophane cabin get some industrial packing stuff make a skeleton of sticks and wrap it
Worst bit about camping is needing to pee a couple of times in the night or morning…..
Seems cool. But the tent heated up with that 110 droplight you had plugged in to that battery box. Lol
I was mesmerized by the insanity of this video. Obviously it was intended to make money on YouTube since no activity was viewed which would be associated with camping.
Really wish you would have given out some brand names on the inside tent and the blow up mattress. Otherwise a very good demonstration.
With the skill and accuracy he chucks wood you might mistake him for a woodchuck
Where is this. Alberta?
Jesus, it’s like camping with Jerry Smith. I’ve noticed a common thread with winter camping vids. SWM, one and all. Ok not all, apparently there are two female winter campers. You go gurrls!
I’m not Chuck Norris 😂😂😂 now u are my fav!!! Let’s camp!!!
Tip for starting a fire: next time let the lighter fluid soak into the firewood for 5min before lighting it
Sent from Joe and Zac!!
Okay 1. Who doesn’t set up their brand new tent before going out? 2. The pole design has been around for a while 3. You definitely should have put down a tarp. 4. This is a cool concept and I enjoyed watching despite the issues.
Insane. This guys camping game is next level.
You need those catholic candles
Tent poles have been like that since the 80’s
I don’t know if you’ll see this Steve, maybe I’ll find a newer video to give you this info. If you’re going to use a Carbon Monoxide sensor keep it about a foot from the ceiling. Carbon Monoxide is created from a gas appliance and heat rises. It is heavier than air so it lowers. If you have it on the ground below you’re head, when it goes off you’re already affected, or gone. I am Combustion Applied Saftey certified through EETA here in California and trained at a Pacific Gas and Electric training facility. Just a heads up.
Watching this while the temperature outside is 97F… or 36.1C. I’m thinking "why even add a candle or tents, just lay in a snowbank.
That being said, I would love to film a parody of this. You’re so calm and polite, so Canadian. I want to see this exact same video but starring the stereotypical rural American.
I have never even heard of an ice fishing tent before. Kind of excited by the idea (especially with the air conditioner). Fun to watch – thanks!
Make a rock surface inside the big tent and heat rocks in the fire , bring them in the tent a boom !
Gotta get me one of those ice tents where did ya get it?
What about those hand warmers? Enough of those should keep you warm in the tent.
Thanks for making that video. I think we can tell by the snow that it didn’t get too warm in there. Should’ve put a cup of snow in small tent to see if it melted.
Uhh… they make wood stove for tents
Walking on unpackable snow like you do in this video is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. Could only take 30 sec and had to quit video.
Am I the only one that wanted him to fart into his carbon monoxide detector????
