The Alabama Archives Building: 80th Anniversary Perspectives on the Home of Alabama History

In this program, the ADAH commemorates the 80th anniversary of its building with a panel of experts from around the state. Dr. Jeff Jakeman, Professor Emeritus at Auburn University, speaks about the campaign to construct the building as a lasting memorial to the men and women who sacrificed during World War I. Author Ruth Beaumont Cook describes the use of Sylacauga marble throughout the building. And finally, Dr. Derryn Moten, Chair of the Department of History and Political Science at Alabama State University, discusses the current era of the building and our agency as we recommit to documenting the stories of all Alabamians.

The books from all of the panelists are available to purchase on our online store, Alabama Original, here: http://www.shopalabamaoriginal.com/shop/Building-80th-Anniversary-Panel-c65446086?fbclid=IwAR23Q3p1vqlqaPLQePYiyFesCKHmKm1i9nyJSrjCpZALfQ7OMesOO6OgE10
