I agree with the "You do you". You can follow trends strictly or loosely and buy new stuff every few years or keep your own style independent of trends and own your stuff for longer if you are not into spending much.
I say when you have the eye for Decor you can pretty much turn anything and everything into a very posh or cozy environment to your liking and style..
It sure is fun to watch what is trending so you are up to date even if you don’t follow trends, and that also gives you ideas and inspiration to play with what you own by incorporating new things to keep your space interesting and refreshed with any style or personal taste, no matter how old or new your stuff might be.

Definitely resonating with the earth tones and natural textures. Warm palettes and lots of plants!

  3. Joan Jones on December 19, 2020 at 12:00 am

    great videos thank you

  4. Mrs K on December 19, 2020 at 12:00 am

I guess, above all, I love timeless pieces.
I do not like the oddly curved furniture but everything looks good in the right space

  5. Brenda Blythe on December 19, 2020 at 12:00 am

Born in the 70’s, I grew up in the 80’s & 90’s, right? That being the obvious, I am LOVING the natural woods, terra cotta & camel colors, lots of greenery blended with curved edges & geo designs. I am ALL about allowing trends to inspire, not intimidate. Workable trends become classics. Mixing design styles gives a room that collected vibe that I inform my clients is what will make their home feel lived in. Perfect magazine photos aren’t reality!

    That camel sofa had me!

  6. Louise on December 19, 2020 at 12:00 am

Baiyina, thank you! I love this video, and your amazing style advice. I live in a Victorian house in the UK and love antique and vintage pieces which suit the age of the house, but it’s really useful to see how I can stop it looking too granny! You’re looking fabulous, by the way! xx

I live in a house that is "sectioned off" into different rooms and I’m not about to go and bust out walls (even if we could do it right now during Covid) or to get new couches etc. About all that I’m going to do is to paint and pare down what I have. Trends come and go so…???? Am I doing the right thing? I am getting what I like and what suits MY lifestyle and home. I’m NOT going to decorate around the "trends". :). Thanks Baiyina. :).

  9. Elmerissa Sheets on December 19, 2020 at 12:06 am

I love your videos! I just stumbled on to this and am now a subscriber!! I love hearing about trends and I incorporate little touches of them. I also liked how you mentioned the barn doors are out (from your other video) but can still be good if in context!

  10. Sidra Siddiqui on December 19, 2020 at 12:07 am

Always been the "grand millennial" type of person. Love "granny" vibes with a bit of modern touch. πŸ’–

  11. ashley otto on December 19, 2020 at 12:07 am

I wish there’s be a trend to just have stuff thats comfortable and sturdy. Im sick of stuff that has cheap fake wood veneer on it.

  12. shoshana bloom on December 19, 2020 at 12:07 am

    Love love love ❀️

  13. Susan Hull on December 19, 2020 at 12:07 am

You are a wise woman to fend off the naysayers. I like to see current trends. It gives me a jumping off point. Thanks for the great ideas.

  14. Melissa Chavez on December 19, 2020 at 12:13 am

Ooh, thanks for providing all the photo references! You always show the best examples for trends. Love the curvy and rounded furniture look plus the natural woods/materials and plants, with moodier paint.

  15. Tiarra B. on December 19, 2020 at 12:13 am

Love it, love it, love it!!!πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’• I am super excited for designer trends for 2021! Im very much a traditionalist girl at heart; totally into the elaborate molding, moody and cozy with sophisticated and slightly modern flairs. Can’t wait to see MORE as we transition!πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

I actually live on a farm. Farm style isn’t going out of style over here. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  22. Anna Bardon on December 19, 2020 at 12:23 am

Absolutely love your site. Glad I found you. πŸ™

  23. J Butler on December 19, 2020 at 12:26 am

I didn’t care for the farmhouse look so I’m happy it’s going out. I do need a door to the entry of my bedroom bath for some privacy, so I will probably go with a custom barn door plus I have 120’ ceilings. I’m already in trend with my camel color bed. I think everyone that is into decorating should go to Market in their area to see the new trends and be carful when buying from those large discount stores. Thanks for sharing your knowledge it’s much appreciated!!!

  24. alexis skinner on December 19, 2020 at 12:27 am

I love the dishes and bud vases in your background. It’s a nod to the past and it’s priceless!

  25. Deb on December 19, 2020 at 12:28 am

Yes! This lock down forced me to agree to let my husband buy a recliner! And I swear he bought the ugliest one on purpose!

  26. Carrie Karr on December 19, 2020 at 12:28 am

  27. Denise Carpenter on December 19, 2020 at 12:28 am

We just moved and I’m forced to put my exercise equipment in the grand room. Now I can say it’s the trend! πŸ˜‚ Thx for the info. You are delightful. 😊

    It’s the 80s!

  32. Amanda Baias on December 19, 2020 at 12:34 am

I’m still in love with the Scandinavian decor. I’m a minimalist. Not going to change…10 years from now or sooner what will we do about the rich earthy tones in our homes when they will not be in style anymore?

  33. jacquelineazure on December 19, 2020 at 12:34 am

  34. Maxine McNichols on December 19, 2020 at 12:35 am

I am little bit of everything classic, traditional, farm house, romantic!

  37. Miss Tee on December 19, 2020 at 12:39 am

Due to Covid I’ve already starting incorporating multi functional areas in one room. Having to work from on and have a space for me time was important.

  38. Kathy Ann Hicks on December 19, 2020 at 12:40 am

Thank you YouTube algorithm for this find…you knew what I needed. Now I’ll binge.. 😘

  39. Aly Lau on December 19, 2020 at 12:43 am

Don’t love integrated living, but practically speaking most people don’t have enough space to NOT integrate multiple functions into separate rooms so I appreciate the trend!

  40. Mary McCullough on December 19, 2020 at 12:43 am

So my treadmill in the bedroom is trendy? Lol

  41. Silli Lilli on December 19, 2020 at 12:43 am

I’ve always had my own style, in fashion as well as furnishings, etc. Thank you for sharing what we can expect in the stores. You’re right, trends take over the shelves at the stores and online. When you’re looking for traditional everything is modern, and, vice versa. I remember, for instance in fashion, disliking those really pointy shoes for men and women, preferred comfort, couldn’t buy new shoes for quite a while. lol

  42. Brenda Thompson on December 19, 2020 at 12:43 am

I’m not sure what I want to do to my home yet but this is a start !!

  43. SunRae* ** on December 19, 2020 at 12:43 am

Grand Millenial looks like Shabby Chic. No can do. The plants, lighter woods – yes.

  44. Kim Pearson on December 19, 2020 at 12:45 am

Omg if i didn’t just in fact read the opposite in an article where it’s read was not getting to comfortable with the trends especially the rounded furniture because it will turn quickly also if u like what’s coming in do not spend a huge amount of money doing so because this tren is not going to last so with that being said i guess I’m going to go with my likes and not what’s flowing in 2021 , lot’s of different opinions out there but thanks for this video

  45. Erica Green on December 19, 2020 at 12:47 am

Chinoiserie is now Grand Millennial πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I’ve always loved chinoiserie chic in style or not

  46. Derrick Johnson on December 19, 2020 at 12:48 am

This video is everything. So exciting to watch and so informative. More please!!!! Grand Millennialism is the jam!!!! Who knew?

  47. Julia Dowell on December 19, 2020 at 12:49 am

    Happy about all the pattern!

  48. Angel Bulldog on December 19, 2020 at 12:50 am

Things I’m personally beyond sick of:
    1) Grey
    2) Granite
    3) Stainless steel
    4) Did I say grey?

If granny chic is in, then I’m hot stuff. I have no money for decorating right now, but I have an online game in which we deco anything from a hair salon to a gym to a kitchen. Having a ball with it!
Thanks, Baiyina. I’m shocked that finally at 71 I’m in! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ™‚

  49. Kim Aoyama on December 19, 2020 at 12:53 am
