We started this week with our “shakedown” trip in a barely functioning van. At least the electrical was working flawlessly, right?
Our swivel seat base came in much more quickly than we had anticipated and after several days off from building the van we knew we just HAD to get it installed. We also noticed a small issue with our diesel heater overheating, which I hope we’ve now corrected by increasing out vent tube and vent outlet to 3.5″ from the original 2″.
Now that that was out of the way we had the opportunity to move onto correcting a discoloration (likely my fault) on the sink cabinet door and then getting to what I believe is the coolest feature in the entire living room… our 32″ Samsung Frame Tv that is as much a functional tool for work, but also for entertainment, as well as being a piece of art on the wall when in “art” mode.
Life is good.

At some point you will need to cover and insulate the doors and any exposed metal in the frame, doors because they become a conduit for heat and cold that will drastically change the temperature inside the van. If you don’t have a buffer in between the metal it will transfer the heat from the exterior metal to the inside metal surfaces and the same with cold temperatures. I recently saw a couple of videos that talked about it.

You could have used the hole saw from the original hole put it in the larger one and that would have acted as the guide. Next time if there is one. Seems everyone that installs the swivel base have a fitment issue
I agree Family First. Always. Love the new tv!!! We put up a roller blind and a tiny projector for our viewing pleasure. Otherwise, how would we both be able to watch you? On a tiny screen? No way.
Love the bed, love the layout. How are you covering the windows? That was to bright! These things always take longer then you think. I can’t wait to see how you like it, long term.
That TV is EVERYTHING!! Definitely an option I would of chosen as well, and surely better than a laptop screen. Imagine you’re pulled over for the nite n it’s raining outside, but inside you’ve just made a nice hot meal and all kicked back watching a great movie.. sounds just about perfect to me!
Is that a 12V TV?
There are times when having "now" with family comes before everything else. You will never regret taking that time and letting anything and everything else just coast.
Another time when you need to cut a larger circular hole and prefer to use a hole saw, you can stick a piece of wood on the back side of the hole to provide support for the arbor bit. Thickness can be whatever fits and you can stick it either with a good double-sided tape or using hot glue. Remove the excess after boring with a chisel if it won’t pull off with reasonable force.

Sorry to hear about your family member. Suggestion on re-drilling a larger hole saw hole. Next time clamp a scrap piece of wood (large enough to cover a couple inches on each side) behind the hole you want to enlarge, then you have something to drill into and will keep it centered. Love the work you two are doing!

Love the TV…only drawback I see is you can’t watch TV in bed…but then I’m in my 70’s…living vicariously…and I watch TV in bed a lot.😄

I am so sorry to hear of the diagnosis of your family member. My mother has stage 4 bone cancer and has been given 2-4 weeks to live. It has been indescribable. I just can’t imagine life without her. Chihuahua nation is going to grow. She wants me to take her little Rosita. We will of course, so we will have our 2 boys and now a little 3lb. girl. Just a really sad time. I’m sorry if you are going through a similar situation. Sending my love and puppy kisses from Pedro and Bandito.
