I think van life really only suits adults/ people with partners. Kids? No. I am a military brat, and relocating from one place to another majorly messed me up today. I’ve been homeschooled for roughly 3 years, and the other public schools. Let me tell ya, changing to 3 different High schools isn’t fun. It’s very time consuming and isolating (I had a different issue involving this and it’s not the military or a van life type set up. i’ll just say it was a DV situation) By the time I made it to the school I graduated at this year, in my Junior year of HS I was very mentally and emotionally unstable due to my situation that I stayed mute for the whole school year. Literally, doing that made me lose the ability to talk for long periods of time and was always short of breath. I’d only talk to the teachers and no one else bc I felt like if I made any friends or relationships with anyone that I’d half to move again if the situation happened again that involved me or my family moving. Doing that to kids is emotionally harming and devastating. These parents need to put their kids first before this van life bullshit honestly.

Itโ€™s absolutely insane that van life is meant for 1-2 MAX 3 ppl but parents do this shit

  4. Astolfo on July 29, 2023 at 3:35 pm

idk why van families want to make so much kids bruv, can’t they just be happy with liek 2/3 pets ( not necessary but pets are cool ) and 2 kids, that’s enough, ya don’t need 14 massive dogs and 26 kids lol

I was not a van life kid but my parents where the kapitains on a big sail ship. This was a trow back for me. I grew up in a family of 5 in a 3 room home. One bathroom, one 1,20 m meter high ‘bedroom’ without beds and a kitchen/bedroom/living room thing. My parents slept on the couch. Me and my 2 siblings in the ‘bedroom’ on camping mattresses. The best thing to say is that my parents themself had not a better bed then we had ๐Ÿ˜… i lived like this from my birth until the covid 19 lockdowns. So 13 years. Then i realised how bad my home was and how much i missed to have a own bedroom or at least one with beds and where in the beds don’t fill out the entire room.

Not a van bit for the latter half of middle school and all of high school my dad lived on a houseboat and so so did I during his visitation, and just gotta say that if I hadn’t been the only kid of his under 18 I would’ve been miserable. There were 2 bedrooms beside the master, one was decent enough sized and the other was a bunkbed room the size of a small closet. No shelf or storage space, almost not floorspace. If my siblings had been there me and my middle sib would’ve killed each other trying to share that room.

  8. Faye on July 29, 2023 at 3:38 pm

My parents have an rv and they have a lot of fun and enjoy camping, but I cannot handle more than a week at a time in that thing

I think itโ€™s crazy how the video with the pullout couch, the lady described children (the living breathing humans) having their own space as an inconvenience? Like the kids having their own space is just wasteful. The only good van life family imo is family of nomads bc first off they have a huge ass van, all the kids have a queen sized mattress (it pulls up to the ceiling) and all the kids get a cut of the content money

I feel like van life developed around a certain kind of professional millennial that worked remotely, and was burnt out on the constant rotation of overpriced apartments. It’s interesting to see these parents choose to use their expendable income to live like this (and force the kids to do it to) like, I feel like a lot of people would kill to have a home and a comfortable family life. And you’re throwing it all away so you can have your bohemian 20-something fantasy at the expense of your kid’s childhood

When the’re kids they’re docile and can’t do much but once they’re teenagers those parents will regret the decesion they made….

You know i grew up as a kid with little to no privacy. I can honestly tell you it set back my self growth, self confidence and just all things youd need to be a functional adult. Kids need privacyโ€ฆ parents need privacyโ€ฆ

Iโ€™m glad she pointed out the problematic issues of the van life with children but letโ€™s face it van life is for childless couples and or single people as well

7:00 this i totally agree with, and the fact most of these families are uprooting their children and ruining any chance of actual education and a stable job just so they can "reconnect" and "travel the country" is what genuinely floors me

  28. Brittany Fehlings on July 29, 2023 at 4:06 pm

Im all for van life, bus life, tiny homes, etc, but it space has to be proportionate to the number of people. Everyone needs time away from everyone. Yes little kids can share smaller spaces, but when kids get older, they need space to themselves.

  29. ZakuraRabbit on July 29, 2023 at 4:07 pm

…Why do so many of these have a million kids? Its one thing travelling with two kids in a camper (I’ve been the kid in that situation, it was alright… of course it was only for weekend trips… 2 weeks at most) but 4? 6???

  30. Sourdoe Bread on July 29, 2023 at 4:08 pm

I have eight siblings and even a relatively normal sized house feels super cramped. I have no idea why on earth someone would WILLINGLY make a family of that same size or larger live in a fucking van. Like, okay, you can โœจ travel โœจ without leaving your home… But at what cost? Maybe I’m being an unadventurous dweeb who hates travel and excitement but usually VAN BATHROOMS DON’T EVEN HAVE A DOOR. Why would you want that. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

  31. Kris10 on July 29, 2023 at 4:09 pm

  32. BarriBluu on July 29, 2023 at 4:10 pm

As a homeschooled kid as well, I am insanely lucky that I made it through with good social skills and friends.

Homeschooling can be hell if not done right. Please get some structure before you think it’s at all a good idea. My family didn’t have much of that, and I was also abused when I wasn’t doing well. It can lead to a lot of issues.

  33. Renjana Gemintang on July 29, 2023 at 4:11 pm

The acceptable one is that RV family that has one bedroom (yes, full size room with big bed) for their kid. Tbh this kind of live, is better for ppl with one kid or two (?) Idk, the good ones just a parent with one kid, the bedroom is literal room and big size bed

  34. Nickname ss on July 29, 2023 at 4:15 pm

It is sad to see in this kind of video how most parents seem to have kids because they want them and not because they think they will be really good parents. If you can’t give a kid a nearly perfect childhood you just should not have kids.

  35. Stage on July 29, 2023 at 4:16 pm

I can understand if some kids sleep on small beds or crevices because of money issues, but having a lot of money and forcing the kids to sleep like that is messed up. Also trust me, curtains don’t do shit for privacy and can also be a risk for small animals. (Kitten died by my mom stepping on him while he was stuck/playing in the curtain.)

I wouldn’t mind sleeping in something like a shelf, but that’s because I’m autistic and weird. But it’s definitely not a good sleeping type of style-

  46. Era Heart on July 29, 2023 at 4:28 pm

Ive literally seen ONE family do it somewhat right and they rebuilt the master room into 2 rooms one for each kid (the parents slept on a built in mini room) and to be frank they said it was more of a summer/vacation home for them

  47. Dragon Blast on July 29, 2023 at 4:29 pm

I don’t understand how the parents do it. I live in a small 3 bedroom house and I am the oldest of 3 siblings. Me, my sister and my younger brother, and the Second I became a teenager, my parents gave my sister their old room and they converted the living room into a bed for them, just so I could have some privacy. I am for ever grateful for that sacrifice.

  48. just_another_editor on July 29, 2023 at 4:29 pm

I’m an only child in a family with 2 dogs. Last year, we moved across the country and had to stay at a campsite in our camper trailer… during the summer… for 2 months… To say it was uncomfortable would be an understatement. When I see these families living "comfortably", even in larger RVs, it hurts both my soul and by back. I hope a lot of these people hop off of this ridiculous trend and learn how to treat their kids better.
