This past April of 2020 I retired from trucking. I bought a 2016 Ford Transit van with a mid high roof. It already has fiberglass insulation in the walls and ceiling as well as running boards. It also has the trailer tow package and a V6 310 HP twin turbo EcoBoost engine and is great on gas. I downloaded the Ford app and discovered that it was over due for the permanent fix on the driveshaft flex coupling. I really like it especially because gas is cheaper than diesel.
If you want a school bus then look for one that has a Cummins engine and an Alison transmission.
I’d rather go to Eastern Europe and return with a couple

typically stop to park atop civilian vans it had crushed.
One to use and another for spare parts. NATO bullet-
proofed but noise ear protection is recommended.

Renault and Citroen are not related. It’s Renault/Nissan or Fiat/Peugeot/Citroen. The latter is used in 80% of van based horse-box conversion as easy to uprate to 4.5 tonne

Trafics are awful, least reliable van out there, gearboxes are pants and might last 80k miles if youre lucky. Had 4 of them and all have been terrible

Save yourself a lot of money and pick up a second hand Ford S-Max diesel with manual box for 1300 quid. Limo black the back windows. Chuck in a memory foam mattress, an army surplus sleeping bag and a goose down quilt. Camping gaz. More than you’ll ever need. You can go out every night with the savings; and no one will ever think to break in and steal all your stuff like what happens to these guys advertising they’re on the road with everything on board.

The Sprinter vans here in North America (especially the ones built with the Chrysler-Dodge labels) are the diametric opposite of durable. Corrosion is a problem here, as is fit and finish, life expectancy of handles/fittings, etc. and resistance of glass panels to cracking as we travel over our less-than-stellar highways and secondary routes. Other makes like the Ford Transit and Nissan vans seem to fare better in this environment. Go figure…

All 10 vehicles are absolutely rubbish and impossible to live in. Otherwise the problem is really using any vehicle to literally “live in them” unless the bus is converted to a camper but it is again too bulky to drive and park, too expensive to both buy and remodel, so the conclusion is : If you really mean to live somewhere all year round in all weather conditions, buy a house.
