Tour of my retro remodeled bathroom

My retro pink and white bathroom re-do in my mid 1940’s home. Always wanted a colorful mid-century style bathroom that would look like it could have been original to the house; it wasn’t easy, but I finally made it happen.

Congratulations! This looks better than original, and although you could’ve done the same old thing everybody else does, you put in the extra work and created a mini-masterpiece of TRUE mid-century modern renovation! It looks like a beautiful time capsule! Liked & Subscribed!

Is this a mud job or did you use concrete board?

I love the old iron bathtubs. They last forever.

Great job! Even a pink radio! Btw, I’m the proud owner of a pink and black tile bathroom. My home in the San Francisco Bay Area was built in 1932–I doubt the bathroom is original to the house, as I think pink bathrooms became popular well after the ’30s.

I love this!!…hubby and I just purchased a 1950’s home. We have added a few modern things but want to keep the retro look. nothing like an older home so much more character!!

I like how you’ve managed the essence of a pink bathroom without overwhelming with the color. And the green is a nice contrast.

That’s awesome. I liked the old bathroom, but it was just too damn small. You did a great job on this!

Nice work, it is definitely shown in your well done corners. It’s like a time capsule.

Eventually, you’ll have to show us what you did with the rest of the place.

Beautiful bathroom!!! I love old bathrooms like this and I HATE and I mean HATE it when people gut them in favor of some new, ugly trendy bathroom!!! Old mid century bathrooms have so much character.

  19. Blazer Fan on December 19, 2021 at 1:07 pm

BTW Where did you get that mosaic tile floor?!?! What’s the brand? I thought they quit making that style years ago! That’s the style of floor tile in that same color I want to put in the bathroom of my future house.

wow looks good , almost looks like a whole new bathroom . its nice to see the retro look kept , a lot of the times that is lost when a renovation is done . I have a old home as well thinking about doing a modern retro as well .

Why didn’t you remove the door so it can go outward not into the bathroom….would make a huge difference.

  26. doogals99 on December 19, 2021 at 1:15 pm

I had an apartment while I was in school.  The bathroom door actually had a notch cut in it.  That notch allowed the door to clear the toilet seat.  When it was closed, just a small amount of light would pass through the notch.  Where there’s a will, there’s a way!

Came across this and wow, fantastic job. Unreal you found that sink for $5. I just bought two similar looking white sinks with the integrated faucets for $400 so you got a steal.

  34. Suzie Cruz on December 19, 2021 at 1:27 pm

I absolutely love 💕 this bathroom. Love the original window, the pink & green colors together, the old radio on that vintage shelf. I can’t believe how lucky you were to find that perfect vintage sink for only 5 bucks. Someone screwed up on that deal 🤫 The pink tiles look original and fabulous. Love the cabinet doors and that perfect drawer you built in the middle yourself. Great job 👍

  36. Rick Odell on December 19, 2021 at 1:33 pm

All that’s missing is a bar of red, Lifebouy soap, just like a Grandma Odell always had! Great job,

That looks just awesome and I like you made everything line up correcly, like the door gaps and stuff like that, that stuff annoys me if it’s not done right lol, Good job!
