Help! Definitely need a better understanding of Transitional. Is it midway between Traditional and Contemporary??? I really appreciate your collage of photos illustrating your points and distinctions of the style. I need those for Transitional! Thank you!

Any chance you’ll do an episode on Coastal style?

Would love to see Mediterranean tips. Most homes in AZ look cookie cutter Mediterranean. What can I do to add some originality, wood beams, etc. and attractive furniture that isn’t leather or iron.

  14. Nicky R on December 9, 2020 at 10:52 pm

Yes I like these videos! Can you do something on French? Maybe city, city french, or modern French. Not farmhouse country French.

Lisa …I’m a mess ! I am traditional 2.0 house but nothing flows in my house. I have modern tan leather sofa but have a china (cherry wood shelf ) with crystal and a library (dark wood shelf) . I don’t have sets of anything . I had my walls repainted in what should have been a light grey but the mix was wrong and I have light purple walls. It’s cute so I ran with it but when I step back it’s not so cute anymore . My living room opens to the dinning room, but it’s not the warm cozy feel I am looking for . What should I do ?

I have always been traditional and what some call rustic traditional, my wife is a combination of beachy (coastal) and farmhouse. For me, I like all the moldings and trims, those relax me and make me feel at home. I enjoy stained wood over painted wood. Those are structural things. When it comes to paint colors, draperies, floor coverings, this is where my "rustic" comes in. I like _natural_ earth tones in softer neutral colors but textured fabrics. I despise polyester comforters. I prefer cotton quilts in neutral tones without a whole lot of pattern to them. Symmetry is very important to me and if I can’t find it, I go a little stir crazy. I love the look of the Chesterfield but my wife prefers the pillow-top. So, the living room is relaxed (that’s her domain), the dining room is formal (that’s my domain), and the master bedroom is Queen Anne with picket fence beachy elements with teal and white starfish and seashells. The master bath is… pirate on my side and coastal on her side. Not completely, but… Can you make a video on a mashup of these styles?

    Hello Lisa,
I love the breakdown of styles, it’s really useful!
I just hace a doubt about this video, which are the differences between Traditional 2.0, Maximalism, Grandmillenialism and Neo-victorian?
    Thank you,

    Kin regards,
    Hector

I love your energy and vibe as well as your expertise. When it comes to kitchens, can you explain differences in design if there are any between French country and English country kitchens.

  43. Cheryl on December 9, 2020 at 11:25 pm

Hi! I was wondering—if I have a fireplace with a window on each side which is obviously formal symmetry, does that mean everything else in the room has to be formal symmetry —ie 2 matching chairs etc? Please say no! 😂 PS I have a small space I’m working with.

  44. RAAC60 on December 9, 2020 at 11:25 pm
