I don’t know about the rest of the UK, but I live in Snowdonia, Wales area and the councils here are closing down the public toilets, libraries, etc.. one by one. And most times if you find one open, they are so dirty, and usually never any soap to wash your hands. There has been a lot of time I wished I had a van with a porta potty πŸ™‚

Hey guys, love all of your videos! Heading to Portugal myself, currently in Orio Spain. Would be cool to have a meet up, considering you named your van after me! (Vince) πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ All the best!

Bring the lorry , no toilets open much any more

Here is a good tip, if you don’t have a diesel heater, take 2 double duvets, one super warm feather filled and one summer very thin. On cold nights sleep on top of the summer duvet, using it as a sheet, with the warm one on top to stay warm. Hot nights change them around have the summer one on top.

  7. Mel Sparkles on September 5, 2021 at 11:08 pm

Oh don’t leave Dizee behind! He’d be lost without his family:-)

  8. Kevin Cole on September 5, 2021 at 11:09 pm

Not leave without…the dogs man, oh and toilet paper, 😳. With my prostate I could not leave the Porta potty behind even after the surgery… as for wine my tops screw off, and it tastes great.

  9. mustardseedseeds on September 5, 2021 at 11:09 pm

Thanks for the great content guys as always. I’m not sure what you are doing different Sarah, but I noticed in the last two videos that your skin and hair look fabulous my dear. Nick looks younger with his new hair cut, wow full time traveling is definitely working for you two. Stay safe and kiss the boys for me… love that Charlie 🐻.

  10. Paul Marsh on September 5, 2021 at 11:10 pm

Love your blog, although we are so called grey haired travelers can really relate to your life style. When retired done 37,000 miles in Australia . We travel roughly 5 months of the year, thought we had everything Nick sold me on his jet styled stove, also ridge monkey, barbecue and now ready to get the mini oven keep up your lovely life . Paul & Barbara..

Eight things, which includes Marmite and yet more Marmeit and emergency Marmite. Surely a saucepan with a lid would be just as efficient as a kettle and saves space because you need a saucepan anyway.

  12. susanne jensen on September 5, 2021 at 11:13 pm

Lol. I can relate to the leaving Dizzee behind but in the end we love our little fur babies too much. I take it that Dizzee is not a good traveller. One of our two small dogs is not as keen as the other dog, whether it’s in the boat or the van.

  13. IanJohnMartin on September 5, 2021 at 11:13 pm

Due to covid I had no choice to bring a toilet. My toilet is a sports bottle for number 1 and a small camping seat with a hole and a doggy bag to collect the business for a number 2. It’s not perfect but it takes up hardly any room and cheap

  14. John Roberts on September 5, 2021 at 11:14 pm

Oh my goodness! What breed is the adorable little tan dog?

  20. David Cooper on September 5, 2021 at 11:18 pm

Hmmm….I was just looking at my 5 shirts, 3 tee shirts, 2 fleeces and 3 pairs of trousers not to mention a pile of socks and underwear already packed in our small caravan (Eriba Triton). Like you, time for a change. We’ve already ditched the TV which was unused for the last 3 trips so its clothes and cooking gear next. Four small frying pans and a wok (OK they are stored in the van but I forgot to leave some of them out on the last trip). The petrol stove is great (I use a Paraffin Primus pressure stove). I also have a Solo stove which is very light, takes up a very small amount of space and burns wood. This is good if you are wild camping but a lot of camp sites in the UK class these stoves as open fires and do not permit their use. It is a good backup for long trips. I now have to persuade ER Indoors to sort through her stuff……that could be a challenge.

Don’t forget ,get some reinforced undies for Nick lol.I always take spare bedding now after my little doggie vomited all over my bed when i was driving,by the time i’d stopped and got to her there was lots and lots of it .Yep ! don’t leave the tin opener at home.

  22. Jane Connors on September 5, 2021 at 11:18 pm

  23. Mark B on September 5, 2021 at 11:19 pm

  24. Stephen on September 5, 2021 at 11:21 pm

  25. Helen Spicer on September 5, 2021 at 11:21 pm

Thank you for doing this video, just bought my van and it was so helpful…can’t wait until your in the uk! ❀️

  26. Ken Clive on September 5, 2021 at 11:22 pm

Not sure how long ago you have traveled around the UK, but in recent years nearly all laybys will occupied by lorry drivers parking up for the night, there is a chronic shortage of proper lorry parking particularly in the south east. We find lorries parked all over the place, services slip roads, farmers fields, quiet roads to villages, parked across pavements etc etc. Nearly all public toilets I know of, close overnight due to vandalism

  27. FRANK H MORGAN on September 5, 2021 at 11:22 pm

I think DECLUTTERING is the word yer a lookin for. Another great vlog as we have come to expect now. And never disappointed.
I don’t know what we’d do with our weekend fix of you two guys. Now we need to catch up on some of your older vlogs. Happy
travels. Oh and I really think that maybe the porta loo should come with you. The UK is way way behind the rest of Europe.

  28. Russell Smith on September 5, 2021 at 11:24 pm

"And of course the dogs" πŸ™‚ Life would never be the same without doggies. Your two boys are awesome, I have two little girls, they are absolutely everything in my life. Love your videos btw πŸ™‚

  29. Hayley Zana on September 5, 2021 at 11:28 pm

    Hello! πŸ™‚

That’s so cool you are going back to Portugal!
It’s a little cold but very beautiful πŸ™‚
We actually moved here around a month ago, never been here before and just left a cold Sweden and moved with our two dogs to live our dream life β˜ΊοΈπŸ•‰οΈ
We live in a small town called Luso and it’s a funny story how we ended up here but it’s absolutely the best place we could have ended up.. especially since we had no idea where we were going to live when we left lol.
Anyways, Luso is a town you should visit one day! ✌️
Bless you guys, have a nice evening! / Joki & Zana

Haha definitely need less kitchen bi@ches

  40. april7 on September 5, 2021 at 11:41 pm

Personally agree most of your must items, and few more that I don’t travel without, first is a Vulcanizer tyre repair kit (small and cost about 5€) saved few times when some metal in your tyre! And second one emergency car jump starter kit (60-100€) you can use it also for laptop power and charge your mobile gadgets (do not forget to charge after use!) For drinking water just managed with this kind of addon https://www.amazon.co.uk/WM-aquatec-STSN-40-conservation-freshwater/dp/B00D0O7I1M

  44. Ed Hall on September 5, 2021 at 11:46 pm

Great vid as ever and some great tips , ill miss the hair boo but hey hoe – a lovley watch. Tip for water cleansing is Elsil https://www.elsan.co.uk/drinking-water-management.aspx tiny measure in your tank or a drop in a jug kills all bacteria , used it for 18 months in UK and all over Europe and never suffered delli belley once and takes the plastic taste out of the water if you suffer that with your vans pipes. Just another tip for wine – if you remove the foil all you need is a shoe , just bang the bottom of the bottle with the heel of your shoe and after some taps the cork comes up the neck. ( its the pressure through the liquid that pushes the cork) .

  45. Too young to be old on September 5, 2021 at 11:48 pm

    I totally agree, re. Marmite.
Re, water filter, try the Sawyer mini. very small, good for 100,000 gallons of water. Filters out 99.9999% of all nasties.
So yours is a petrol van, not diesel?
For a toilet, take a look at the Bivvy Loo – very small and there for emergencies.
As soon as you metioned plates and knives and forks, I went out to my van and took out the extra plates and cutlery. We do use china plates and glasses (for wine). Wine out of plastic is just not on. We used to have proper wine glasses but ‘er in door broke them so we have tumblers now.
For corkscrew/bottle opener – Swiss Army knife.

  49. Cleo Vivas on September 5, 2021 at 11:54 pm

Thank you for the tips. I don’t have a van yet, but I often go camping and it is always good to edit stuff on each trip. Nick, you look very cute. Hugs for both and tons of kisses to Charlie and Dizzie
