Vintage Kitchen Tour | Emily Vallely's Vintage Apartment

Vintage Kitchen Tour | Emily Vallely's Vintage Apartment

In this video I share my 1930’s vintage kitchen and everything inside of it. Although my apartment was built in 1937 I mix a lot of different eras and styles when decorating. A lot of the decor in my kitchen is from the 1950’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Most of what I have has been accumulated from estate sales, antique stores, thrift stores, and flea markets. Comment down below your favorite thing in my kitchen and tag me in your vintage kitchen photos on Instagram!

I grew up in a building that was an old school and then was converted into apartments in 1929. My kitchen and bathroom had a lot of original stuff. I wondered about the history of it. I wrote an article about it on another site called Quora. The story is actually about how I left a time capsule of sorts, inside the wall as a kid and how it’s probably still there today. I go into great detail about what was in the apartment and what it looked like. You should check it out. I think you’d enjoy it. It does include pictures. I lived here with my family as a kid, and we kind of tried to decorate it in a period appropriate way. We had 1920’s and 30’s era medicine bottles in the bathroom on top of the medicine cabinet, that bottles just like that were actually kept inside of and used by the people who lived there back in the day. We kept antique kitchen tools and copper baking molds on the walls in the kitchen. https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-strangest-thing-youve-found-inside-of-a-wall-in-a-home/answer/Melissa-Drift?__nsrc__=4&__snid3__=15861766696&fbclid=IwAR1Eou7BR3COxhJ2wPAG5AAhgTeSUUvcgQ2sdvLsOom514ChKZmKwNG6dyg

I love your kitchen is so cute. Have you seen Mad Girls Vintage here on YouTube? Her house reminds me of yours. I would love to see the bathroom.

I think I love 20s/30s/40s homes better than 60s and 70s homes. There was a straight up space age inspired home that was for sale near me that was really cool. But I just love the homey cute vibe of the older homes. We live in a 1935 home.

best retro kitchen by far on utube. just beautiful, visually interesting, & well put together, not too much stuff crammed in like some people tend to do so their home looks like another thrift shop! lol. i noticed this is an old video & sought out more…love your other home videos also.

Omg…I love your kitchen. I’m so glad i found your channel. I love vintage eclectic mid century things. You display everything so nice. One of the reasons I like this decor is because its happy and tells stories. Ordinary homes are too plain. I like your ideas. How nice you share this talent with your mom. How long have you been a collector? 🍍🍒

Hi! I just subscribed….. I love all the vintage! That picture of the US map with the flowers…. that’s painted? My mom and I had embroidered that exact same map many years ago!

Those built ins are to die for! And the atomic star light omg 😭💕

  26. Tish M on March 20, 2022 at 6:18 pm

I love everything! It’s so different than what we are used to seeing! I love it & so want to pull off this style.. my house was built in the early 1900s.. I’m starting small in my laundry room, it’s going to be a fun project!

  27. Gloria J. Pinsker on March 20, 2022 at 6:19 pm

I still have a spice rack just like yours! It’s so refreshing to see a young person who values things of the past! It’s possible that the purple colors in your flower calendar just faded over time. I am an artist and some colors are called "fugitive" because they do not last.

  28. Lady Bubbles on March 20, 2022 at 6:20 pm

Umm excuse me I am very surprised that this doesn’t have more likes! Absolutely incredible decor and your videos are inspiring me SO much!!!! Thanks for sharing!!

love all the cool vintage things you have! I feel like this is what my house would look like if I was a female teen vampire and kept all the cute stuff I owned throughout the decades 😂 mann… I need to go antique shopping

Your kitchen is so happy I enjoyed seeing things I grew up with. One question where did you get the towel hanging that has the Pyrex on it?

  34. Kim Everhart on March 20, 2022 at 6:28 pm

Oh, your home is so adorable!! This is from a a seasoned Grandma just realizing my true love is mid century modern!
I’ve been surrounded by primitive antiques my whole life and while I admire and respect that time period, I do love the vintage table cloths of the 40’s and 50’s and the all the vintage fabrics, especially from the 60’s and 70’s!
I should have know-my favorite furniture when I was a teen was danish modern.
Live and learn! So glad you have found your knish and are so happy!! It all beautiful!
I would love to see your living room and bedroom space!
Ps. I collect the crazy daisy Pyrex pattern as well!!

  42. Julie Erin on March 20, 2022 at 6:41 pm

Favorite time period in terms of decor would be the ’50s, but I’m pretty flexible as well since I have replica 17th century paintings to vinyl records from the early ’80s.

  43. Milli Wagoner on March 20, 2022 at 6:43 pm

What is your friend Ashley’s Instagram that inspired your kitchen window topper? I couldn’t quite understand what you said her Instagram was.

  45. Mom23 4Ever on March 20, 2022 at 6:45 pm

I watched this video yesterday morning, then later went to an antique mall. I found an accordion style recipe holder that had the saying on it “No matter where I serve my guests, it seems they like my kitchen best.” But like you, I have a small kitchen. Not all of us can hang out in there when we have have a gathering. I got the recipe holder. It’s tattered and worn with a great graphic on it. I don’t know what year it’s from, but it’ll now be displayed in my small kitchen. 🧡

  46. Jessica on March 20, 2022 at 6:46 pm

    You’re such a natural beauty!
Question: does it take u a long time to clean everything? I don’t have that many things and it takes me a while to clean stuff especially in the kitchen cz everything gets greasy fast

  49. Lindee Hopkins on March 20, 2022 at 6:50 pm
