We Spent a Day in ST JOHN, Virgin Islands (Best Things to Do & Eat)

Today, we’re taking a ferry over to St. John, the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. We’re sharing with you how to make make the most out of a day trip to the island, including where we hiked for the amazing views, why Trunk Bay and Maho Bay are absolute must-stops, and where to eat in Cruz bay and Coral bay.

The only way to St John is by boat, but you can hop on a ferry from St Thomas to get there with ease.

St John in the Virgin Islands has so much to offer for a peaceful beach getaway. If you want to experience some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, with half the crowd, then don’t miss Trunk Bay. If you want to swim with the most sea turtles you’ve ever seen in your life, then head down to Maho Bay.

There are also incredible hikes in St John through the Virgin Islands National Park that aren’t very difficult and offer amazing views over the ocean.

Hollandaise sauce in restaurants is prepackaged crap.

Not sure whom this needs to be said to, but if you caught a bit about sea turtles please don’t touch them or ride them on your visit, or ever really!

The snorkeling at Salt Pond is really good. Great after hiking Ram’s Head. Snorkeling at Maho is better than Trunk by far. Next time you are in Coral Bay try Miss Lucy’s. They have the best grouper sandwiches. Service can be slow but worth the wait

Beware of sea lice! They are small baby jellyfish, that sting you in the water. They are mainly in the afternoon, and especially at Maho!

Gorgeous Again! Trunk bay is a hidden gem. Of course, when someone tells you not to do something… you want to do it. Who wouldn’t want to ride Crush? (finding Nemo)

I went to Rams Head sometime in early 1981 for a 6th grade class trip. I don’t know if you know, but that is where the slaves that revolted on STJ threw themselves off of to die rather than be captured. There are stories about those vats in the sugar plantations and "bad" slaves being thrown into them, alive. There was a good chance in the 1700s and 1800s if you ate sugar products, you were a cannibal.
