Entryway can be the drop place for when you come in and also the place to get things before you leave!

  14. SafePet Haven on January 4, 2022 at 2:48 pm

1961 tract house was never designed with an entryway, step directly into living room at the front, or the kitchen at the back; same for my primary childhood home built in 1870 one stepped directly into parlor or kitchen; only house that had an entryway/foyer was one my parents had a few years that was built in 1933.

I love this video, especially the fact you show exactly what you have in a space and how much of each item. I recently subscribed to your channel and am on my journey to declutter my home. Thanks for the inspiration.

Wonderful! But unfortunately I’ve never been able to train my husband nor kids to put away their coats, shoes & keys despite everything being super practical. It drives me crazy but I’ve had to capitulate!!

  19. Marlo Chante on January 4, 2022 at 2:54 pm

Really nice entryway! We have an extremely small entryway of 1,5m2 that leads directly up the stairs, and has a door on the left that leads to the living room😂. So the only things we can store there is one coatrack with a shelf on top,, which we placed pretty high, so the door can open below that particular shelf. With baskets on top for scarfs, hats, beanies and gloves. Luckily there is also a very small ‘closet’ (this is actually where our boiler is placed lol), where we can store our umbrella’s, a bicycle pump and some facemask. We only have 1 pair of shoes each on the last two steps of our stairs (luckily still perfectly save to walk the stairs). Our shoes are in the upstairs hallway in a shoe drawer. Even though the space is super small and we had to be really creative, we still can let the positive energie flow right in 😃

I love that mat. It fits the room and it’s simple. Whatever mat keeps the most dirt out of the house is the right mat. This video was really helpful, thank you.

  21. s edwards on January 4, 2022 at 2:56 pm

I love this, so neat and tidy. We live England and we were on a cruise in the Mediterranean. My daughter and grandchildren came to check the house for us etc. Our ring door bell activated and we spoke to the kiddies. It was wonderful, never entered our minds it would do that distance. Off to declutter now, thanks for the motivation, it’s only 0700 am here so I’ll have to hold on to it for a few hours yet. Ha!!!

    I can’t find you on Pinterest 🥺

  26. Brandi Lynn on January 4, 2022 at 3:05 pm

I would totally keep the mat too! If it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it… amiright?! 😉

  27. Marlo Chante on January 4, 2022 at 3:08 pm

Keep the mat, maybe you can cut of a small piece of the edges on the sides to make it fit? Well, only when you like it better if it fits well.

  28. Sarah Reinhardt on January 4, 2022 at 3:08 pm

I would totally keep the mat! I love using things that work! Sometimes, that’s not always perfect, but worth it!

  29. Lour Lopez on January 4, 2022 at 3:08 pm

Her: the entryway is the most important part
    Me: oh, yes, lovely
Also me: lives in a country where entryways don’t exist because we don’t need them LOL

  30. Rachel Montgomery on January 4, 2022 at 3:08 pm

What a great space! I need to problem solve. We do not have an entryway as our front door opens directly into our living room (no hall or separation of any kind). It’s tricky. That one missing space of our home does make getting out the door more complicated for the 7 of us, as we have to find our coats in our bedrooms, go to the garage or rooms for shoes, etc. I love the Ikea system you chose, makes good use of space without taking too much space.

  31. Lulu on January 4, 2022 at 3:11 pm

My entryway is arms length away from our dining table. Wish I had more or a functional space but we live in a tiny home. I have a chest of drawers and hooks for now but will get a shoe cabinet from ikea which will fit perfectly but have to wait until we go on holidays because our nearest ikea is 4 hours away. This area of my home is my worst area.

  32. Nina DirniMiezenberger on January 4, 2022 at 3:12 pm

I absolutely love the Elvarli system in your hallway😍 and I would definitely keep the floor mat, bc in German winters it’s simply needed. I live in the Bavarian forest where we do get los of snow, plus I have a dog, so floor mats are needed to protect the wooden flooring from getting damaged by the salt (that they in winter).

  33. D P on January 4, 2022 at 3:13 pm

I just finished my entryway this week! This video came out at the perfect time 😁😁.
I have the Evarli in my entryway as well! My entryway is under the stairs, so I used the 126cm uprights with the bamboo shelves. Then I substituted the feet with some wheels with the same threading. This way I can slide it in and out under the stairs. Works perfectly!

  34. nairbvel on January 4, 2022 at 3:14 pm

The funny thing about IKEA furniture is that it’s a little like LEGO toys — you can follow the instructions, or you can use it for pretty darn much anything. Back when I worked for the company, I once spent about 45 minutes with a customer designing a set of armoires to fill a large closet… and when we were done, I apologized for leaving a 9-inch gap on one end and for the total cost, and she laughed and told me I’d just saved her over $1000 compared to the "customized closet system" someone was trying to sell her (and that gap was the perfect size to hold a couple of brooms for cleaning). The key to efficient storage & living areas is to stop thinking along the lines of, "what is this piece of furniture meant to be?" and always think, "how can *I* define a use for this piece?" 🙂

Keep the rug! The whole space is excellent. 🙂

  40. Judy Ludden on January 4, 2022 at 3:22 pm

Thank you for this video. It is inspiring me to go through our little entry way! How do I let go of jackets! I have 11 “Medium to heavy” winter jacket plus 2 ski jacket (and I don’t ski anymore!!! I just use it for sledding) I use it for different purposes but it uses up so much space!!! Oh and I have 3 raincoats! Aaaaahhhh I need to let go!

Love the video. I’m just in the process of tidying and cleaning our entryway and this video motivated me

A mirror pointed at the door is a good thing for guests. It means whoever comes into your house with bad intentions to your family will not be able to harm you guys. It throws their bad energy and intentions back onto themselves like a sort of karma.

  49. Beach Girl on January 4, 2022 at 3:30 pm

Beautiful home. I think I may want to invest in RING also.
