I’ve always had a soft spot for the classical American barn, I’ve designed myself a few houses using the mansard / gambrel style in New Zealand. The great thing about them is how you can achieve volume internally whilst keeping the roof within height in relation to boundary angles in suburban areas.

You’re right, we’ve not seen a barn conversion like the one featured here. That said, we recently (you know, like last week) purchased a beautiful piece of property overlooking the Shenandoah mountains with a barn that is eerily similar to this one. What the homeowners did is so inspiring, so thank you for sharing! I will check back in three years time (as suggested in the video, patience will be necessary so we plan to spend a great deal of time working with the appropriate professionals to realize our dream) to compare our respective visions. Again, thank you for posting this video; it’s the perfect resource for us to validate our plans.

I have seen quite a few excellent barn conversions, but this is by far the most beautiful I have ever seen. The magnificent roof structure is worthy of a great cathedral, and the conversion design is perfect. It was a pleasure to watch.
